Fellow Deadites! I have figured it out! For those of you truly loyal to the Evil Dead saga, and have seen the reboot (which I do say stays loyal to the original cult classics) Hail to the King! That's me. Recently I have done some research and have found out that the same actress that is in the picture of Mia and David is the same actress (Angela Featherstone) that plays the S-Mart clerk at the end of Army of Darkness. This is GREAT news considering the announcement of Evil Dead 4 and Army of Darkness 2, plus the cross over sequel of the reboot movie. So basically, the clerk is Mia and David are in fact Ash's children, just as much of us may have thought when seeing the reboot. The evidence is there people! And I totally called it!
Nice find BadAsh87 .. I hadn't heard about that before your post !. It might just be one of the injokes Fede Alvarez promised (like the cards on the table in the same order as the original Shelly's read out order, the first initials of all the character's names spells out DEMON) or you could be onto something. So if Mia was sitting on her Dad (Ash's) car, how did it get back to the cabin? ... another time wormhole maybe?
Fede Alvarez said that its more of a Reboot/Sorta Sequel to Evil Dead 1 so its like 30 years later and thats why the good ol' Delta is still standing there. :bigsmile
But who knows that that legendary car's been doin since Army of Darkness. :lol I heard it made quite the movie career. :laughing
...Um, no, that's definitely not Angela from what I can tell, though there's a decent resemblance between the two women.
Fede's given the press twenty different versions of why and how his series fits into the 'original' movie. During the shoot, he told ACIN that it takes place in a world where everyone died at the end of Evil Dead and the Evil Dead 2/AOD part of continuity never took place (which is what DeadByDawn said below). Then he changed his mind either mid-shoot or during the rewrites and suddenly
Ash was alive and picks up Mia, who turns Deadite and whom he then shoots in the head (which would promptly leave him nowhere to go with a sequel).
Now that Fede's trying to write said sequel, he's both suggested that
Ash and Mia will MEET.
Or that
Mia dies in the first fifteen minutes.
He's also repeatedly insisted that Bruce's cameo is of him as Ash and that that means he "knows what's going on and approves of it" in Fede's universe (though why the hell Ash would say "Groovy" in response to any of what took place within that movie is beyond me). Basically, he'll say anything that'll get him good ink and/or get people talking about his movies; he has no clue where his official position is in canon, period.
Bruce, meanwhile, has an entirely different take on things. He's repeatedly explained that Mia and David live in a universe parallel to Ash's, and he's been on the record numerous times that the crossover movie is "fanboy bullshit and speculation" (this was AFTER the Wondercon "announcement", where Bruce mildly said "that would be nice" to Fede's pipe dream of connecting the universes) and that the only thing that may happen is AOD2. AOD2 hasn't even been officially announced - it's been loosely stated that Sam may or may not be writing it this summer. (Sam: "How soon can you get back in shape?" Bruce: "not until you show me a first draft). Not even Bruce knows what's going on. And it may or may not happen at all at this point - it's looking unlikely because Bruce seems fairly close to signing on to doing that Burn Notice spin off, which would basically make him entirely unavailable for six months out of the year. He also gets visibly uncomfortable when people suggest the cameo means Ash exists in that world and says "it was just a fun treat for the fans".
Basically, it all boils down to who you believe: Bruce or Fede.
