Welcome to this week's Ash vs Evil Dead episode discussion thread!  Some additional ground rules to the basic ones on the forum for those who want to participate:

1: This and all future threads will be a choose to warn experience; IE you will not need to use spoiler bars to talk about things that happened in this and previous episodes.

2: It is, however, advisable to use spoiler bars if you want to talk about spoilers for an unaired episode.

3: Please be respectful of the opinions of your fellow Deadites; some people may not love the episode as much as you do; some may love it more.  Discussion and debate are good things.

That clip was amazing. I always wanted them to explore the Book more. And now we're gonna see it. I'm so exited about this episode that I'm equally worried it's gonna disappoint me, but so far it was awesome, so hopefully it won't. :)

YEEEEES

She has the dagger!

Man this episode is looking way better character wise, kelly is still grieving over her parent's in this clip, and plus I HOPE PABLO AND KELLY HAPPENS AWWW *heart melts*

And here's another clip, (Hint, it involves churros and ash opening up more in this clip.)

Joe, your first clip is 403ing!  I think this is the one you were trying to link to, right? :)

I kind of like Ruby's no-nonsense ways.  Might we actually see a different Deadite kill this time?

The churro joke still isn't funny, the lampshaded racism is still ridiculous. C'mon guys, we can do better. I don't get what's up with the censored swearing in both clips, but I really like the Ruby one.

ETA: Episode is officially up and OnDemand/the Starz Play ap

Initital thoughts: well, that was a mixed bag.

(Also they should have hired the guy playing the bookshop owner to do more, he was fun).

(And did we really need terrible CGI shots of the neurons in Ash's and Pablo's brains getting compressed?)

Nice episode. I think it's the weakest of the three, but still nice.

I agree that the neuron shots were unnecessary, but the worst for me were the poor CGI skulls and 3D colours on the demon. When we saw him in the trailer, he didn't have any of those and he looked way scarier. So that's a bit shame.

Demon Eligos - trailer and episode comparison (it was actually even mirrored in the ep).

I have no idea why they made those choices, especially with the demon's mouth, which looked like it was a paper cut-out. Was it supposed to be campy? A throwback joke to the smaller scale SFX used on the trilogy? Am I supposed to be laughing when all the characters are in danger and my favorite character in the world's brain is quite literally exploding onscreen?

I get that it's Evil Dead but the show seems to have no idea if it should carry any emotional weight or just be a fully/silly thing.

Just got done watching the episode, Yes there wasn't a lot of action for this week's episode, but it made up for that with character interaction and the summoning scene, i do have to agree that eligos would have been better without the 3d effect's and the unnecessary neuron shots but overall the episode was good for moving on to our next arc and that's at the survivalist camp with pablo's uncle, and i don't think we've seen the last of eligos either.

*In the next episode promo*

I think were going to be seeing some ash clones next episode, cause one of them calls him a bitch in the promo

Hah, I missed the end promo too.

"By then they either end up in my bed or dead."  Sigh.  Less asshole!Ash please

I'm guessing Ash with his lids sewn shut with the sack-cloth headed demons is part of the vision they get that leads them to the next demon.

I think i saw linda in her white dress aswell, she was holding a axe and there was several ash clones with sack's over there heads holding various items, yeah that is going to be one trippy sequence.

Saw the sackcloth headed multi-Ashes but I never caught Linda; going back to check out of curiosity - good catch, Joe!

Nope, third play through and I didn't catch her!

I'm wondering if Ash is supposed to be having prophetic dreams/visions or something at this point? It's an oddly metaphorical sequence.

It's right when ash sits up from the grave they buried him in, she's standing to the left as you can see her white dress partially.

Ahh, excellent catch!  I had to freeze-frame but she's definitely there.

Oh shit i just realized that kelly is still grieving over her parents deaths, now think back to what the lionel said about what eligos feeds off of.

"He prays on the spiritual and emotionally weak"

So if i'm correct, kelly is has become a host for eligos, god i love the subtle shit you can find in this show.

Not a bad episode!

The demon they summoned totally reminded me of a Hellraiser Cenobite!

I thought the episode was great, had a sort of Supernatural vibe with the devils trap. I thought the CG was less bad. Sure they didn't need the synapse shots but they were OK and I actually really dug what they did with the demon, especially the mouth. I can't hate on everyone else's opinions, but I'm trying not to see the worst in every episode like it seems some people are. I've waited too long to be disappointed. There is just no way it could ever fully live up to 25 years of expectations, so just enjoy it for what it is.
