Consider this your first warning, dude. There's a post right at the start of the thread that reads "please respect your fellow Deadites' opinions" and we've been lenient on your continued flouting of that rule, but this is pushing it. No one is torturing you with anything.

This episode was not only the best thus far but legitimately awesome. Lots of stuff fans have been yearning to see/experience happened in this ep.
Everything was top-notch, the mood, the atmosphere, the pacing, the action, the lines. This is shaping up to be one incredible season finale.
I just wish I wasn't so geeky that I spoiled stuff for myself by listening to Joe's amazing score.
Am I the only one who got hit with a wave of emotions? Nostalgia, fear, excitement, sadness, etc?

Everyone's got there own opinion of thing's man, some will like it some will hate it, it's almost like yin and yang. If you don't have that center of balance everything would just fall apart at seams.

You just named off one of the reason's why she is important for the team overall and yes i do agree she hasn't really provided anything really crucial so far to the overall story but she isn't a useless character by any mean's. she has saved or gotten pablo and ash out of multiple sticky situation's in the past with her quick thinking and overall skill as a fighter, such as stopping eligos in book's from beyond from killing ash and pablo, and has shown that she is very skilled in coming up with good plan's on the spot, such as luring in that one military guy and distracting him long enough for pablo to take his gun away this both worked/failed at the same time, she's also the one that hatched the plan to disguise pablo up to get the jump on the leader at that camp and this worked successfully and they ended saving ash and amanda, plus she's a quick learner with any weapon she can get her hands on, she learned real quick how to use that AR-15 and deal with the kickback aswell. She is essentially this show's version of macgyver in term's of skills and overall attitude

About the clothes. Same thing happened in Army of Darkness when Ash split up. One of them should have been naked. So it fit the logic of the series and I agree, we don't really need an explanation for this.
You have a point there. It's just something that jumped out at me while watching. At least in AoD, the original Ash had clothes that could be duplicated. The hand on the show had to generate them from scratch. Maybe that's why it bugged me more on the show than on the film. But yeah, this is just a nitpick. I actually like what they're doing with Evil Ash on the show. It was actually the best part of the episode next to the setting and the fact that finally something happened at night.

How did Amanda, Pablo, and Kelly know where to find the cabin? At the end of last week's episode Amanda asks "Where exactly is this cabin Ash?" and how did they get there if Ash took their ride?
Ash didn't take their ride. Pablo and Kelly have the car. I'm guessing the cabin actually wasn't that far away from the survivalist camp and that Ash just walked from the camp to the cabin. It seems the Brujo's place, the survivalist camp and the cabin are all in the same general area. But yeah, I was also questioning this while watching the episode. I guess it's just another poorly explained connective tissue in the plot to file under dismissive, convenient writing.
RE: Ash vs Evil Dead S01 E08: Ashes to Ashes Discussion [SPOILERS]
I was wondering if the militia compound was close to the cabin too. Only reason I could guess they were able to find him without using the car. I was wondering how they were going to get to the cabin in this episode without seeing the bridge that got curled up by the evil force in Evil Dead1 and Evil Dead 2. They could have used the path that Ashe'es friend and the tow truck driver mentioned but the evil force whisked it away years ago at the end of Evil Dead 2. Then again what's continuity amongst writers that can bring the book back into the possession of ash since it got burned up in Evil Dead1.

I think you forgot the point that she's mostly responsible for what went wrong in the bookstore and after. She didn't trust Pablo & Ash and let Amanda deal with the situation in the store. Because of this decision : Eligos was free, she was possessed, the bookstore guy is dead, Pablo's Uncle is dead. She didn't really stop Eligos, she became an host. That was a hell of a bad decision on the spot.

This is not the first time I point this out but I'm sure the second season will be about this :
I'm sure they will start something with a parallel story. They will close the show with one Ash. Maybe the other one will disappear through a portal. Probably Kelly and Pablo will deal with a bad Ash and the good Ash will be in another dimension. "Raimi said the idea for Evil Dead 4 would have featured not one, but two Ash characters: the present one and future one, in parallel stories. How that would’ve worked, if it would’ve worked, or if they would have met is still a mystery, especially since eventually the Raimis canned it. Their new idea, focusing just on present Ash, is now Ash vs. Evil Dead." RE: Ash vs Evil Dead S01 E08: Ashes to Ashes Discussion [SPOILERS]
I'm probably the only person in the world whose cable company didn't update their OnDemand listing so this would be up by yesterday, so I watched the live feed for this one.
(Also COUGH I CALLED THIS WHEN THE EPISODE BREAKDOWNS CAME OUT BACK IN THE SUMMER COUGH)
Loved It:
* The cinematography and direction in general were beautiful. Those sepia tones! The camera angles and the lighting! The sneaky force POV. The beginning was very, very TED reminiscent.
* Most of the suspense stuff with Amanda in the cabin worked.
* Ash talking to Linda's head half-deflects my criticism below. Only half. "We had a life planned together." I want him to TALK about that for like five seconds. The "everyone you love here dies" should
pay off when he saves Kelly and Pablo and he realizes romantic and sexual love and platonic love can be equally as powerful,
but I'm not holding my breath.
* Bruce's acting as Bad Ash was pretty damn terrific and actually subtle and chilling. Yes, Bruce Campbell was subtle in an Evil Dead production, it happened and we saw it.
* The Ash and Amanda fight was legitimately terrible to behold in a horror way. Watching her die was the first time I felt like there were any stakes, and Bruce and Jill and their stunt doubles kicked ass in that scene.
Ehhh:
* I don't buy that the cabin would be that intact after thirty years.
* "Last time I brought a girl here I was hoping to get laid" and all of the ascendant attached comments. Shit Ash would say, but shit that continues to ignore that he had major, deep feelings about Linda as seen in ED2. And the pilot. It fits but it also felt too flippant, especially when he was talking about her 'rockin' bod'.
* Sometimes I felt like they were stabbing the nostalgia button too desperately and too obviously.
* The hikers seem to be shaping up to be obvious spam-in-a-cabin fodder. The blonde girl
seems to exist just so Pablo and Kelly can realize they like-like each other.
I will reserve actual comment until I see more but yes.
* All previous Ash clones had his level of intelligence, I hope they explain why this one is smarter.
* Ash was almost all there characterwise but felt too sleazy. No points on for making Bad Ash even sleazier, as he should be.
Hated It:
* I am actually vaguely enraged by Amanda's death, but not in the way the show intended. She was just such a totally, completely misconceived character who could've been amazing. She could've been Ruby's second and done a hell of a lot of amazing shit. But the show had absolutely no clue what to do with her, shoehorned her into the terrible chemistry-free romance/sex thing with Ash, and that pretty much sealed her doom - and the worst part is that it was by design from the start. I feel like the show wasted my time with her. She had potential and they wasted it utterly just to turn her into cheap (unneeded) motivation for Ash. I still have no idea who she is or was, and I have no idea why Ash would care if she died when he only had random sexual feelings for her. Ash has sexual feelings for every single woman he sees in this canon, why should I care? In the end it just wasted precious show time that could've been spent on Ruby's mythos, etc. Linda's memory should've been enough motivation for Ash. They could've killed Kelly and it would've had a much deeper emotional impact, if they wanted the supporting cast to be trimmed, not that I want Kelly to die.
I will roll my eyes if "true love" saves Amanda from the episode 10 Deaditeification that's clearly gonna happen. She's probably the reason they burn the cabin down.
* HOW did the hand regenerate into a whole Ash that is an exact duplicate of Current!Ash? Deadite clones are usually created as a whole, new body. Why does this one have Ash's false teeth?
* I'm not looking forward to Pablo and Kelly trying to idiot plot their way out of this, and I'm also not looking forward to the obvious moment where they finally end up together. We all know it's going to happen and the waiting is super tedious.
This was the best episode of the show purely for the nostalgia bomb factor but there were still creaky points for me - but this is the closest it's come to the meatloaf sandwich comfort food Bruce promised when this rolled out. RIP Amanda, you're wearing low cut tops and saying "fuck" a ton in Deadite hell now.
I will be coming back to comment tomorrow, everyone's got some interesting ideas going on.
Prediction:
"Everyone you love dies here!" is finally broken when Ash and Ruby and Kelly and Pablo actually survive.
RE: Ash vs Evil Dead S01 E08: Ashes to Ashes Discussion [SPOILERS]
@Sutter Cane:
I like that idea. At least it's original.
Going back to Evil Ash, now that I had some more time to assimilate it, the clothes don't bother me nearly as much as the dentures. Evil Ash in AoD had both of his hands after sprouting from Ash's shoulder. Wouldn't Evil Ash on the show have his real teeth then? I can think of reasons for him to have clothes, but I really can't think of a reason he would have dentures. How would the hand even know that Ash doesn't have his original teeth anymore? That detail could even be used as a way to tell Evil Ash apart from the original Ash. Like I said, it's a minor issue, but it still feels weird to me.
@MaidOfKandar:
As usual, we're on the same page about nearly everything.
Concerning what you said about Ash acting too sleazy and how dismissive he was about his feelings towards Linda, I guess that's part of the problem I had with him kissing Amanda while she was dying. Specially after the unusually honest moment (and kiss) she shared with Evil Ash just minutes before and the fact that Ash had just finished dealing with his unresolved feelings for Linda. It really seemed more like something Ash wanted to do rather than something both of them were yearning for. Due to a very messy development of their relationship, characters and motivations throughout the season, it felt a little like Ash was taking advantage of her. Can we also talk about that little moment that has Linda talking about sucking Ash and he actually takes a few seconds to consider it? That was a little too pervy even for this portrayal of Ash. It certainly doesn't help in making Ash's and Amanda's final moments look any more wholesome. They really tried to sell honest love and emotion with that final kiss, but there was simply nothing to back it up with. It just felt weird. I also really hope they don't try to pull a "true love saves" schtick when it comes to Amanda in the following episodes, cause I'm not buying it.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead S01 E08: Ashes to Ashes Discussion [SPOILERS]
Wouldn't Amanda have thought it very odd that Ash walked back into the cabin with his second hand before he got close enough to touch her she should have noticed ,hmm no robotic hand there but a malformed sick one.
I love how when Pablo and Kelly meet the hikers they go from:
"We're not looking for any trouble."
"We have no money."
to
"I have mace."
"I'll fire this flare."
within 20 seconds. Quick turnaround from leave us in peace to we'll kill you where you stand.
Also a bit of a mistake this episode made. Amanda caused the slash mark on the evil Ash right cheek, Why does the one that was locked in the toolshed have the same slashmark when consoling impaled Amanda on the deerhead? In fact he has the same slash mark while in the toolshed talking to Linda just before he says "You talk too much."

Ahh, me and the Starz interns, we have fun; they sure amuse me and I'm sure I amuse them (and possibly others watching) and their sass remains as weak as their logic. The point is that Amanda served as nothing BUT a walking plot point and her death had no emotional impact on me because she was barely a character. I felt bad for her because Bruce and Jill were Just that Good, but so much more could've been done with her. I settled for telling them about how shoddy the writing for the relationship between them was, because it was.
RE: Ash vs Evil Dead S01 E08: Ashes to Ashes Discussion [SPOILERS]
Quick Thought's on this episode.
I thought that this episode was a really good way to start off the cabin arc with a bang, yes the nostalgic factor was real in this episode but it didn't really cloud my overall judgement on this episode.
Main Highlight's
Evil Ash
Emotional impact this episode brought to the table.
Ash hiding behind a wall of smartass joke's and machismo to hide the fact he is a very broken man with a good heart on the inside. ( i will cover this topic in my in-depth review)
Kelly's true feeling's being revealed in a very subtle way (I guess i'm going to be the odd man out on this one from everyone else in it actually being a actual highlight from this episode but it was for me. )
Amanda Dying
(I'm gonna go to hell for that one )
Linda
The overall huge set that they produced for the cabin and the surrounding area around, you can obviously tell that most of the budget money was spent on these three episodes. Which would explain why some of the eariler episodes didn't feel right in the practical effect's department but big props to the production team for essentially bringing the evil dead 2 cabin back to life*thumbs up*
there's a lot to speculate and dissect from this one episode, especially with the set as well i kept seeing a lot of hidden references through out.

I didn't notice that. I guess it's more of their forced "fixing" stuff up just to make both Ashes look exactly the same for next episode's inevitable "who's the original Ash?" scene, just like Amanda cutting off Evil Ash's hand and original Ash hurting his stump in the shed.
RE: Ash vs Evil Dead S01 E08: Ashes to Ashes Discussion [SPOILERS]
Did anyone else notice that they picked a very creepy but ironic song for the credits this week ?
and quick oberservation's from the next week promo.
Ruby and Ash relationship is going to be very interesting to watch.
Pablo and Kelly look like there gonna be in for a shitstorm of trouble.
Ash beheading someone, my best guess is evil ash.
And i might be seeings things but i think i saw a possessed ash choking pablo, gonna have to look that over again since the video they have out right now is not very good in quality.
