Well look at this! It may be The Evil Dead companion but it looks WAY better than what we got. Hummph. Has pictures galore. There's a limited edition as well with Ash's bloody face on the cover.

Wow the presentation is amazing. Any idea how to order the book?

Ironically, a Brazilian fan sent me a message on YouTube and mentioned it right before that video is published. He forwarded me one of the stores and at the link at the bottom, you can see the limited edition and the stores that carry it. I asked him which one is the best option for international shipping so we'll see.

Well I put yet again another crappy review video on this book. It's a gorgeous book. I envy the Brazilians! Though they did have to wait before they could get theirs of course. This book has two new chapters (one on the remake and one on the musical). I'm going to write them out and have them translated. Excited to read them! If anyone wants one, this is the only site selling the book.

Awesome review Elise! Can you see if they have links to Evil Dead sites in the book and if Deadites Online is in there?  :wink

Yup. Congrats! I'm kinda sad that Ed's site isn't in there. And me, well I can only dream. Haha. I actually have a problem with my site layout and I'm switching to a .com address only after it gets fixed. But I have to wait until I get an email back first from the theme designer.

I've just run the sentence in brackets beneath the bookofthedead link (site creado por fas ingleses) through a Portuguese translator .. it translates to 'Anglicize site created by right'?  :bigsmile :

Rob, are you secretly David Cameron? ..

And thanks for sharing your review Elise ..

Thanks Elise! I wonder why they left out Online. Oh well. At least they changed the link from the old Geocities page. Bill Warren refused to change it when I requested before the Evil Dead Companion first came out :angryfist :laughing

Hmmm... hey guys, I just signed up in here and... I'm from Brazil, as you can notice with my English, which is not so good.
Well, it happens that this website is awesome, and I was checking the forums and found this one... since Portuguese is my native language, I can be... somewhat... useful in here.
I can translate those additional chapters from Portuguese to English, although, as you may have noticed,  English is not my best... and also, I can answer some of your questions about the chapters. I do not have the English version of The Evil Dead Companion Book, but I do have the Brazilian Limited Hardcover Edition, which Elise (can I mention you like this?) talks about in her video. And yes, is a gorgeous book. The publisher that released TED companion book here in Brazil also released one for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and it happens that's awesome too. (I also don't have the original English companion for TCM, I do have the Limited Brazilian Edition) but I checked out some pictures online, and it seems that the Brazilian version is way more beautiful.)

Here are two pics which I took from the book:
http://instagram.com/p/Znj3t_Qwd_/ and this one http://instagram.com/p/ZnjYBdQwdj/

(I can take more pictures from the back and inside if you ask)

And, here is a picture from the Brazilian edition for TCM http://instagram.com/p/X2RyOCQwVH/

Wow, thanks for reading and sorry if I'm being annoying.

Well, "site criado por fãs ingleses" actually means "website created/founded by English fans". :)

Thank you for the correct translation and further help in this vinnie  :).

Hey vinnie, no problem, you can refer to me as you like haha. That would be cool to see if the limited edition (which is the version I really wanted, boo) looks different in the inside flaps? I do take it that otherwise, they are exactly the same.

I was simply going to type the whole two chapters myself and put it through Google translate so I could see what they said. They're very short so it wouldn't take too long to do that. But for sure you seem to be more reliable than Google translate as witnessed by letting us know what it says beside Rob's site.

Also you're not annoying at all! No worries.

Hey Elise :)
Ok, I'll take some pictures from the inside. Actually, the interior from the standard edition is more cool than the hardcover (since there is no way to hang a flap in that hardcover, IMO). And honestly I hope that the last phrase makes some sense in English.

Then... I'll translate the chapters and post it here.

Oh thanks, you guys are cool. :)

Your English is excellent vinnie. I'm looking forward to reading your translations.  :)

Oh, thanks! Well, I just finished the translation for the chapter about the musical.

Notes: I tried my best with the translation. If there's any phrase or something that you didn't understood, just ask me and I'll do my best to correct.
Those additional chapters were written by Brazilian writers, not Bill Warren. I'm pretty sure that there's a few mistakes in this. You can notice the writing level decreasing, since they're not even writers, just editors.
Also, I'm pretty sure that mostly of you already know or heard about everything that's being told on those chapters. So, I'm not feeling like "HAHA I'm bringing news to you."

Here it goes. Enjoy!

"FROM GORE TO GROOVY
The musical.
Zombies dancing and singing. No, we’re not talking about Michael Jackson’s classic, the “Thriller” music video. We’re talking about Ash, in the old cabin, chainsaw in arm, harmonizing with an choir of living deads. “What the fuck was that?”, you can ask yourself or, even better, sing the main song of the stage play.
ASH AND SCOTT: What the fuck was that?
SCOTT: Your sister just turned into a zombie.
ASH AND SCOTT: What the fuck was that?
ASH: Your girlfriend just turned into a demon.
Yeah, even before the possibility of an 3D edition from the Evil Dead franchise, it hits the Canadian theaters – and later, around USA, England, Spain and Japan – in 4D, as the producers has told, the infamous musical version of The Evil Dead in Las Vegas.
If Michael Jackson was responsible for pop zombies shaking their bones, well, the wedding between musicals and horror didn’t started there. There’s the classic The Horror Picture Show, created by Richard O’Brien and Jim Sharmam, which in 1975 put together in one movie everything that fright the north-american families: sex, drugs, rock n’ roll and horror. In the forties, Hollywood had tried to make Zombies shake their asses, as in the film King of the Zombies, that was nominated to an Oscar for Best Soundtrack (1941, by the way, the only zombie movie that almost won an Oscar). Little Shop of Horrors (1986) and REPO! The Genetic Opera (2008), other films that are usually listed as the best horror musicals from all the times. Also includes in that list the adaptations for Le Fantôme de l'Opéra (from the French writer, Gaston Leroux, published for the first time at 1910) and Sweeney Todd, which even before hit the movie theaters, starred on Broadway at 1979. Tim Burton, responsible for adapt this one for the big screens, also is remembered for his The Nightmare Before Christmas, but, may anyone forget the anthologic scene which the Beetlejuice friends dance and sing “The Banana Boat Song”, from the ”King of Calypso” Harry Belafonte?
Shortly after the release at the Off-Broadway, Evil Dead – The Musical turned into an instant cult, even appearing between the ten best horror musicals from all the times, as well as the others listed above, not that the list is that longer... As the original producers from the stage play has told: “A lot of musicals today are based off in movies. Evil Dead – The Musical is the only one in history based off in one franchise.”
With similar lyrics to “those groovy guys are going to mess around”, the musical includes the hits “Cabin in the Woods”, “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by kandarian Demons” and “Ode for an Accidental Stabbing”, created by George Reinblatt. The creative team also count with Frank Cippola (musical producer), Melissa Moris (music), Christopher Bond (original director and additional songs), and the producer William Franzblau. Reinblatt, writer of the adaptation has written since 2002 to the biggest humor festival from Canada, Just for Laughs, on Montreal. He also has worked for Steve Martin, John Cleese, Tina Fey, Jason Alexander, Jim Belushi, Whoopy Goldberg, among others. Today, he also works in the Canadian channel Comedy Central, as a writer of many TV shows.
You already know the story. A group of friends joined their minds to put in scene an crazy idea: to music the Evil Dead franchise. The originality was, initially, to adapt a pre-existent horror movie to be sung. And then, from an small room in the back of an restaurant in 2003 which enormous lines started to form in the outside, and from there, in 2004, they went straight to Broadway, at the Off circuit, being acclammed by public and critics. Ten years after its release, more than a hundred of American cities – beyond Toronto, London, Tokio, Seul and Madrid, - has received, are receiving or will receive the stage play. And the oficial website, Evildeadthemusical.com offers the possibility of acquisition the rights for the stage play to any country all over the world. "

That's it. Soon, I'll bring the chapter about the remake and pics from the inside cover. :)

Thank you so much for translating that chapter!  Good to see the musical get its due.
