Hi,

Has anyone attempted to fix a dead battery for their BOTD eyeball scream?
I was wondering what's involved, type of battery, pix would be great.

Thanks.

To be honest I don't know, but if I was going to attempt this I'd probably use a de-solvent and artist's fine tipped paintbrush to carefully peel the rubber away then after the 'operation' use non water based spirit gum to glue it back down, starting from the middle with my fingertips and pushing outwards to avoid getting any trapped air bubbles.  Due to the size of the internal mechanism, I'd imagine it would be powered by your average digital watch sized battery?. Please post your efforts (with pictures) if you do so we can at least see how it's powered.  :thumbup

I did some searching and it looks like the internet is in dire need of an article on how to replace the battery for the ED2 BOTD.

I'd go with Swofty's suggestion and document the process step-by-step. Then share the finished article in the forum, or possibly talk to Kain about adding it to the 'Features' section of Deadites?

However, be careful if using solvents or chemicals on the latex as it could damage the material, causing it to break down or dissolve.

Good luck!

Tom created the sculpt. I doubt he'd know the mechanism's added NAH but it could be worth a go ...

I have been looking for an answer to this and can't find one. I think I'm going to attempt to fix my battery. looks like I can get the rubber off just don't know how to reattach it.

I think white spirit and patient abrasive techniques and gentle leverage is how I would risk opening the rubber. After that, the re-applying process should be relatively simple if using either rubber cement or spirit gum (after stage one has dried completely). Using powders (translucent theatrical blending powder or at a stretch talcum powder) would help prevent leaving nasty finished product glossy sheen ? .. good luck  :cool

It's the Evil Dead II dvd the book of the dead edition. I don't think the battery is suppose to run out for a very long time. But I think another dvd was pressing against it and drained the battery.

I have the skin peeled back but I don't know how to post a picture in this thread. Well it has two watch batteries and the skin peeled pretty easy except where there was alot of glue. The whole skin isn't glued only in areas. So repairing is pretty simple, just be careful and don't rip the skin.

It's fixed and screaming again. You need 2 batteries I used Energizer #389. I had to drive all over town because this size battery was the only one sold out everywhere I went.
