A crossover would probably make me give up on the franchise for good and just stick to the original trilogy of films. It doesn't even make much sense, storywise. The trailer for Fede's next film actually looks pretty damn good and got me interested, but he needs to stay the hell away from Evil Dead. Dude just doesn't get it (and still seems arrogantly oblivious to the remake's shortcomings). The thing is, if AvED fails and there's no third season I could definitely see them attempting the crossover to try and recover losses on both sides. I shudder just to think about it. Still, I feel the chances of that crossover happening are pretty slim.

IMO the only crossover that could have worked was the Phantasm one if they did it years and years ago when they said they were going to do it.

But it's obvious with AvED that Bruce is getting old and they waited too long. I'm not into fan edits, but I feel a need to 'close the circle' as it were and finally create a high quality ED that goes back to the original with lingering scenes that are actually scary.

It's coming along pretty good so far, hopefully I can get Ash alone for a solid 10 minutes in the woods and cabin in the end. Also all that Jacksonville crap is not in it. It ends when he finally gets the upperhand and shoots her twice.

I don't think they will go that direction because even if AvED "fails" we will most likely to get an Evil Dead 4, or whatever they end up calling it that picks up wherever the series takes it... or ends. Maybe Mia shows up there, but I don't think we will get a continuation of Fede's version of Evil Dead at least not with him at the helm. It is also hard to believe we are still talking about an extended cut 3 years after the release of the damn movie.

Two reasons this crossover won't happen.

1. I just don't think bruce's body can handle making another hour long evil dead movie at his age and given how sam is behind the camera as a director and knowing some of the antics he will try and pull with him i just don't think bruce would wanna be put through that process again, another thing to note is that he seems to be much more comfortable doing tv more these days then movies it's very rare you see him in any movie's these days.

2. Who would wanna distribute and give the money out for a movie like that, that's part of the reason why they went to tv in the first place because who would wanna fund a r-rated million dollar evil dead sequel that would give them both creative freedom and not restrict to go far with it plus also get the right's to use mia character from the remake. It would be quite nearly impossible to bring that all together.

And on the possibility of a ED4 or another ED movie happening, there gonna talk about it and talk about it but the chances of it happening are slim to none IMHO, until i see some actual confirmation that there's another movie being made and a release date is given i won't believe it until i see it but given bruce's age and how big of a director sam raimi is these days, i just don't see it ever happening, I'd rather they finish out the 5 year plan there wanting to do with the show (if that happens) and hopefully end it with the show.

"Arrogant obliviance" is about the best way to describe FA in general (he literally once said in an interview that his entire generation of filmmakers love making references to other films because there's "no way" to make an original film anymore.  That was real).

I really wanted that Freddy/Jason/Ash movie.  I still don't believe it didn't happen because they didn't want Ash to kill off Freddy and Jason.

I can imagine them trying to crowdraise/source a fourth movie to put the cappers on the Ash side of the franchise.  The thing is, if they can barely get a good audience for the show, they're not going to do much better at the box office so they might go with a limited/OnDemand kind of release (think what Rooster Teeth did with Laser Team only on a much bigger scale because of the franchise's breadth).  I think they'll be relying on people who like the remake to show up to see Mia, but the problem is that the remake's fandom is small within the Evil Dead fandom general.  How many people love both characters and are happy to see what they're like together remains to be seen.

As they keep saying, we're getting something twice the size of a new movie with every new AvED season.  We might have better special effects and we might get a tighter writing experience (and it would likely be written by Ivan and/or Sam) but there's no guarantee.

I also think the tone would be a total mess.  Either they do a ED1 style movie and risk some of the audience being confused/giving bad laughs during serious moments or they add humor to the remake verse and change what made it popular with reboot fans in the first place.

I think they were wise in avoiding that because it's too cross genre. In Phantasm the ball-implanted people are similar to deadites and there is a lot of them and different types.

In Freddy vs Jason it's just this WWE smackdown thing about who is more creatively invulnerable.

Ash is more a survivalist human--so he would have to keep his distance the whole time and use bigger and bigger explosives and guns, which would basically turn it into a crappy action movie.

Actually, the script for the crossover (it was released as the Freddy/Jason/Ash comic book) manages to do a good job of applying Nec-related magic and logic to the scenario.  It doesn't become a contest of what's the bigger boom but there's a good amount of psychological horror in there.

The Phantasam crossover sounds interesting (I don't have much expertise in the franchise, I defer to anyone else who does).
