Well a new documentary needs funding! And it's about us! So why not give it a look? ;)

New teaser here:

Tom talks about what you can get if you invest here:

Haha! I'm no movie star. Though Fangoria posted an article about it with my mug and name in it. That was pretty neat! I also invested today. :D

Scroll down and you can see where.

I'm part of the online part of the project. A lot more people seem to be interested to be in it. If just as many people decided to invest then we'd be in business! Ha.

Elise, I removed my original post for a couple reasons..... I felt as though I was "investing" in this project by giving material for the piece for free. I have probably one of the largest ED/ED2 collections anywhere...heres why, this is not a collection of posters, dvd's, action figures ( not that's those are not cool) but this collection is of original set pieces, props, etc. all this took over 20 years to gather.... I have never seen another collection like it. So, I felt like I was kinda investing. I may be wrong but aren't "producers" responsible for funding a project like this? PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, because I hope this works out for you guys. but the actual funding is up to the film maker. I have zero problems giving material to help out, (never said anything about being in it) but then to donate as well, I just don't see it. sorry.
I have been asked to film my shit for other projects in the past..and didn't. I thought that this may be the right time.........then again maybe not.

Oh go ahead I'm not stopping you from sending an email, but here. I'm going to say a few things so maybe you can understand how things are working for the project.

If the project doesn't meet its full requirements, it will still be made. It'll probably take longer. However, it won't be a true representation of what it should be. The point of the film is to see fans from across the world. If it doesn't even make half, any fan outside of North America can count that they won't be in the film which is very unfair. This isn't my decision at all. This is the director's decision. I have no influence over what he decides.

With the high volume of fans wanting to be in the documentary, unfortunately we can't see every single one of them and we'll only see certain ones. We can't squeeze everyone in the length of the film which is limited of course. I'm not saying all fans are are this way, but this could piss off a lot of people who just might feel like they are being told that they are "not good enough" to be in the documentary. The only reason that I'm in the trailer at all is because I live in the same area as Steve. I'm sure that you deserve to be in the project more than I do. As a matter of fact, I'm sure your claims are true so I want you to be in the documentary because nothing excites me more than seeing other people's massive and impressive Evil Dead collections.

All I want to say is that if all the ones sending emails chipped in at least a little bit, it would certainly help. That is all. Last I checked there's only 19 people who chipped in, including myself. I do want to see people like Michael Witch from the UK and Nathan Emerson from Australia make it in the documentary because it'll show how fandom reaches across the world, not just North America. It's sad that Steve will cut that if he doesn't get the money. Though he told me that he might contact people in so and so countries to film it with instructions and send it over if worst comes to worst. Maybe. I guess it would be his fault for not wanting to raise the money in any other way so these people can be in the documentary. I don't have much say in it.

So don't take what I say to offense. I'm just disappointed because I don't think it's even going to reach the halfway mark...and the project will seem ego-centric to North America only. Maybe. If I was making this project I'd make sure everyone who deserves to be in it would. But unfortunately it isn't.

I think with the sum Steve is trying to raise, it would be better if he extended his time limit to raise those funds .. I wasn't originaly planning on investing because, to be completely honest, I just can't afford it at the moment (and with Christmas just around the corner) .. late January to early February next year will be a very different story for me and I'll be happy to if it's still all systems go .. not to mention you're not just handing money over and crossing your fingers as an investment .. you also get sent cool collectible shit depending on how much you want to send ..

I thank you for not thinking I was being an A-hole over this. maybe the guy behind this project may get a more clear idea of what it is he aiming for. from what ive read so far about the production, someone is looking to go here and there and maybe a few other places... it kinda looks as though most of the budget for this film will be for traveling, plane tickets, lodging, etc. theres a lot of cool things out there that can be filmed if you contact the right people. I know a few folks that worked on ED2 here in NC.....

one other thing....I don't feel its a good idea to use "celebs" names to fluff a piece, producer or not. A producer isn't doing much unless they are setting up meetings with people in hopes of raising funds

also, its very clear you have a true passion for these films, and I respect that. hope your collection makes in the film..YOU deserve that.

But yes, I agree with you Elise.. I don't think the funding will  reach its goal. why? icing and no cake.

Thanks, I'm not the vicious person some people might think I am. Just really passionate! According to Steve I'll be in the documentary, so it's really nice! My collection and enthusiasm may not match yours or Dennis' or Michael's or Rob's and so forth but I'll do it until I die I think, ha!

That is exactly it though. The budget will go mostly to travel and hotel fare. With a lot of flying, it really racks up. I think Steve has good intentions, but he might be relying on Indiegogo maybe a little too much. What I do like about Indiegogo is the stuff you'll get and believe me, I want that stuff! He did his last documentary which is pretty good all with his own money and he didn't make it all back so maybe he's thinking raising funds with Indiegogo will be better. I know he has good intentions though.

Oh yea, Elise im agree with you about Fede....He should have NEVER made us belive we were going to get something that he didn't deliver on. Honestly, I felt kinda dumped on by the film he did. I understand what he did to make it to the theaters... but the other BS? I kinda expect it from Bruce  :niah, but come on man....If go to a bar and order one of my all time favorite drinks, don't water it down :angryfist. ED 2013 just didn't deliver..period.

and, Im not a big fan of AOD... the only reason I will see it is because of Sam. I just hope hollyweird hasn't rubbed off on him.

I think i'll keep an eye on this project  :cool who knows what may happen.

I'm looking forward to seeing the final project; and will be contributing when I have the spare cash :)

I do agree with you actually, without fans with big collections willing to participate this project, then there really isn't any project to speak of. You could have a string of talking head interviews with people who are simply fans, but the true interest for me and many others would be seeing what truly rare pieces people around the world have in their collections and the stories behind them, and not just DVDs & VHS's, I mean original props, rare promotional items, things that most fans will never have seen before.

I personally have spent a pile of money collecting together the items I have, and allowing the film-maker access to shoot that, would seem a far more worthwhile, interesting and valuable contribution to this project than donating a few dollars. I know Hellbilly1965 has some really nice original props in his collection, really nice, wouldn't you rather see detailed footage of those, than have him donate $50 to the project?

Of course I would love to see that! But what's that expression, a double edged sword? One of the leading costume and prop collectors is in the UK. Unless Steve gets a film crew up there we won't be able to see Michael in the documentary at all, which sucks! If all of the leading prop collectors lived in North America, I guess that I wouldn't care if Steve didn't get all of the money he needed. So the right people wanting to donate their time to show off their collections is really important of course, but then we'll have to omit some based solely on where they live, despite the fact that they deserve to be in the documentary more than someone with a typical small collection that would take their place instead.

I honestly don't do indiegogo donations, but  great project. I hope you'll reach your goal!

Hail To The Deadites has a new video podcast. Episode 1 talks to Graham Humphreys, the artist behind the now world famous posters and video sleeve art for the Palace Pictures releases of The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2.

Wait, are they associated with the documentary? Doesn't seem like it.
