The R.I.P. thread ..

Josh Becker passed away today

Josh's ask the director section over at https://beckerfilms.com/ was a blast to read, and when he commented on a couple of questions and comments it was always a treat... but Bloody Disgusting did include a link to the Evil Dead Archives for the Evil Dead Journal which everyone should also read followed by watching any of his Xena episodes.

RIP Josh. When I was 18 and in college I would read his website every morning at my work study job with my coffee.

watched Running Time last night in his memory.

Does anyone remember the documentary on Josh that came out a couple of years ago? Other Men’s Careers?

Would like to check it out but don’t know if it was ever released digitally or physically. Cant seem to find it anywhere.

Edit: looks like it’s a special feature on the Invaluable Blu-ray.

R.I.P. Adam the Woo, much loved early Youtube Vlogger. Adam was found in his bed after what some people are suspecting was a heart attack. He was 51.

Here he is at The Evil Dead cabin location 14 years ago.

Crazy. I got into ATW about 13 years ago when he really started hitting his stride with the abandoned location exploration videos. Many a late night was spent on laying on my bed and watching his "zany journeys" (as they were described in his theme song) on my tablet across this wide and wonderful country. He was in my state and hometown many times, and I always thought it was so cool seeing these forgotten and the overlooked places hidden on the backroads around me getting exposure from him. RIP to a real one.

He had/has possibly a few hundred vlog uploads at all sorts of locations. Here he is/was doing Evil Dead 2 Wadesboro ..

Man, Josh passing away still has me in a funk. He made flicks like Alien Apocalypse entertaining and his love stories were always the best parts of his films.

Marcus Gilbert, Lord Arthur from Army of Darkness, dies aged 67.

Guess I know which Survivor I'm going to play this evening in ED: The Game.
During beta testing the Lord's Wrath would keep going until you failed to hit a finisher making him a badass, and when they changed it you only saw a handful of really good Arthur players.

R.I.P. Lord Arthur. (was his shoelace untied?)

Did you work on the game?
No, but I followed a few people who took part in the tests which they weren't allowed to share until later... and after hearing that Marcus was dealing with throat cancer for over 3 years it makes me wonder if that played a part in why he didn't voice Arthur.

That is very possible, though I wonder how many actors were asked to go back and didn't, and how many weren't asked at all. The game brought back everybody from the first movie, likely because it's good PR (Theresa Tilly doesn't even voice Shelly who isn't even in the game, but she still voices other characters). They brought back some actors from the series and Shiloh Fernandez from the remake (wanted Jane Levy too, but sadly it didn't work out) because these are still fresh in peoples memories. But then nobody from Evil Dead II and nobody from Army of Darkness, which makes me wonder if they were even asked at all.

One will never know the true stories when Saber is involved.

The legendary Chuck Norris died yesterday at the age of 86. Actually Chuck died 20 years ago, but Death was too afraid to tell him. Norris was one of the major recurring players for Cannon Films, where he cemented his place as one of the many iconic 1980s action heroes with films like Invasion USA, The Delta Force, and Missing In Action. In the 1990s, Chuck starred in the action/crime/contemporary Western television series Walker, Texas Ranger for nine seasons. Prior to his true rise in popularly in the 80s, Norris made his big screen debut in the 1972 martial arts film The Way of The Dragon, where he appeared in what many consider one of the best martial art fight scenes of all time with the film's star and director: Bruce Lee.

Chuck was a terrible person IRL. Nothing will be missed.

I remember stumbling onto his stuff years ago and just falling down that rabbit hole. Used to put a video on late at night and just zone out after a long day, it kind of became a routine without even thinking about it.

Crazy how that stays with you.
