Greetings fellow Deadites,

For those who acquired autograph of Bruce Campbell and other Casts of the Evil Dead Movies/TV series

Do you go through the process of having your item authenticated? via
PSA/DNA
JSA (James Spence Authentication)
BAS (Beckett Authentication Services)

Anything I own that is autographed has been done before my eyes, or sent from the cast member directly, so I've not yet been in a position to require that level of authentication.

Both of my Bruce-signed things were either gotten for me by a friend who watched him sign it or was signed by Bruce in front of me as well, and my Ladies of TED poster came via Fright Rags, which had their own COA. So extra verification's unnecessary in my case.

Also Bruce will verify autographs for free on Twitter, if anyone wants to go that extra length.

Yeah seems a bit silly.

I agree, but the autograph business had change drastically!

Two point of views:

1. Bruce Campbell Point Of Views

Bruce Campbell's guest appearances in conventions, book tour signings changed as well.

In the 90s you could easily get autographs from Bruce Campbell by just simply sending a S.A.S.E. to his Los Angeles address or if you meet him instant photo ops and autograph

In the early 2000's when his "If Chins Could Kill" book tour - any appearance he made, a single fan or guest on this tour could easily get more than 10 autographs or multiple wacky photo ops

During this time, memorabilias from Bruce / Evil Dead started to flood the Memorabilia Trading World (thus his value in the market lowered down).

As 2010 arrived things change and tougher restrictions made for Bruce Campbell under the management of Mike Estes (Dangerous Entertainment Inc).

Any appearance and autograph signing (or even photo op) of Bruce Campbell would go in the brass knuckles guard of Mike.

Thus, if you see in the Memorabilia Market - Bruce Campbell's Autograph raised a bar in value (ranging from Photos, Posters,Books, Toys, Videos)

2. Market Point Of View

Before degree of difficulty getting (through in-person experience or just by simply buying from the market) Autographs from Bruce are hard. Either one has to fly to go to an appearance, or Go to a Memorabilia Store to buy One.

As the new millennium arrived - this autographs can easily be access for purchase through internet (mainly E-Bay, Amazon, Memorabilia E-commerce stores)

Autographs can be obtain in person through conventions. And this is the reality of the business now

And with numerous channels to obtain an autograph - there comes also the Forgery and Frauds. Thus Authentication is highly recommended.

Some insights about Autograph Authentication

There are cases that "sent from cast member directly" were signed either by a secretary or their agents

That wouldn't surprise me, have you got any links to evidence of that though? ..

The only Evil Dead autographs I have are some stuff from Tom Sullivan that he mailed to me himself and some cards signed by Army Of Darkness cast members that, truth be told, could have been signed by anyone (although I didn't pay for the later and doubt many people would go to the trouble of faking autographs from Bruce Thomas, Ian Ambercrombie, Richard Grove or the illustrators Micheal Oeming, Andy Hartnell, Arron Lopresti, James Kuhoric, Greg Land and that artist who did those limited edition hand drawn sketch cards (but who hasn't signed it) .. it's doing my head in trying to remember his name but he did a lot of the early Army Of Darkness comic book work ..

I wouldn't pay online for a Bruce Campbell or Sam Raimi autograph, Bruce's autograph looks like a sideways letter Z so it wouldn't be hard to fake ..

Any autographed items I have (none by Bruce) as said above were signed by the individuals right in front of me, and I know some of those that can be purchased online can be questionable so I stay away from them. It also seems like a lot of trouble to go through to get something authenticated, and I decided to take a look at the PSA website which shows a different fee for each individual artist with Bruce Campbell authentication being set at $20 while Mark Hamill costs $30.

Never pay for autographs or autograph authenticators.

I had mine authenticated and no problem at all for the two Evil Dead book of the deads DVD.

Its via PSA/DNA

I only ever bought one autograph that might be fake (Joseph LoDuca) but the rest ALL came from cons with the exception of my Sam Raimi sig which I sent in the mail and got back like almost 2 years later! Even if the LoDuca one is fake, it looks nice and it was cheap.

The last one I had was the Book Signing (where I put it a couple of my Evil Dead Book Of The Dead DVDs).

No payment for auto, just got the book and an extra autographed item

After I had it signed by Bruce, I submitted it for PSA authentication and its all authenticated now!
